 | Jordan Reviews | Tips 51 - 60 of 131 | | This was our lodging in Wadi Rum - not the only option, fear not, but a good choice for the budget traveller as Jordan is not as inexpensive as other Middle Eastern countries. We felt completely safe, and even left our bags unattended and unlocked for hours on end with no incident. We paid 2 Jordanian Dinar each for this priveledge, were allowed access to the facilities, and were given mattresses, pillows and extra blankets. Seriously, we all had such a great night's sleep! I would definitely do this again. Leave a Comment Theme: Inn

I stayed at the Cleopetra (bad pun)Hotel. It cost 12 Jordanian dinar per night. I could have done better had I negotiated. Price included just about all the tea I could drink, breakfast, and a ride to Petra's entrance. This is probably a one-star or half-star motel. It's for people who are traveling on the cheap and can accept modest accomodations. I believe that better accomodations at cheaper rates could have been found at the Wadi Moussa Inn. Other hotels and nicer accomodations include: Grand View Hotel ***** (03) 2156871 FAX (03) 2156984 Movenpick Hotel ***** (03) 2157111 FAX (03) 2157112 Nabatean Castle Hotel ***** (03) 2157201 FAX (03) 2157209 Petra Plaza Hotel ***** (03) 2156407 FAX (03) 2156407 Taybet Zaman Hotel ***** (03) 2150111 FAX (03) 2150101 Golden Tulip **** (03) 2156799 FAX (03) 2156796 Crown Plaza Petra **** (03) 2156266 FAX (03) 2156977 Petra Palace *** (03) 2156723 FAX (03) 215674 Petra Rest House *** (03) 2156014 FAX (03) 2156977 Silk Road *** (03) 2157222 FAX (03) 2157244 Petra Panorama **** (03) 2157398 FAX (03) 2157389 Edom *** (03) 2156995 FAX (03) 2156994 12 Jordanian dinar
If you want to sit with an extended Jordanian family (cousins, uncles, friends, neighbors, etc.) and experience a setting that it more like a house than a hotel, then you might want to try Cleopetra. Leave a Comment Theme: InnComparison: less expensive than averageAddress: Wadi Moussa

We took our hotel with us: we were travelling with Daltus Reisen and their roof tent bus. During the day it was like a bus, but at night it was kitchen, accomodation and pub in one!!! VERY enjoyable!!! Leave a Comment

great breakfasts, very clean rooms, exceptionally friendly people Theme: Pension/GuesthouseComparison: less expensive than averageDirections: In 1993, it was close to the entrance of the old city, in Wadi Mousa.

In the Wadi Rum, I recommend the campground/resthouse (mainly because its the only place to stay) for a tent, I believe the price was about $5 US per night
The only place to stay...but also, there's something great about camping out in the desert (it also has a restaurant that serves great food) Leave a Comment Theme: CampgroundComparison: least expensiveAddress: Wadi Rum

For about 10 dollars US per night, you get a bed a hot shower (if you time it right) and breakfast.
The Araba is excellent. The staff is great. They have a kitchen where they'll cook you food, and a great lounge where you can sit and enjoy tea, coffee, and all the Sheesha you want to smoke while watching Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and Lawrence of Arabia (two fine films that were both filmed in Jordan) Leave a Comment Theme: HostelComparison: less expensive than averageDirections: The Araba is located up the hill from the main part of town. As you are pulling into town, it will be one of the first places you pass on the right.
