 | Jordan Reviews | Tips 121 - 130 of 131 | | Sydney Hostel is a great little hostel in downtown Amman. It is located in a quiet area within easy walking of the main downtown area. The actual hostel is very nice. The rooms are fairly large, each with a private bathroom. The rooms are clean and have a balcony overlooking the street. The staff is helpful, not so friendly, but helpful none the less. There is a pseudo restaurant in the hostel. Pretty much you tell them what you want to eat and they cook it for you and make you pay for it. There are plenty of real restaurants close by. I only stayed one night and unfortunately did not have much time to explore, but the hotel really is lovely, almost an attraction unto itself. My only gripe is that both the flusher on the toilet and one of the shower handles were broken, causing a lot of annoyance when I was trying to get ready in the morning. Also, the breakfast buffet wasn't really up to 5-star hotel standards. But my room was lovely, with an old-world feel.
Hotel Taybet Zaman was created from part an actual old village. The original homes and shops were converted into guestrooms and boutiques, but the original stone buildings and narrow lanes remain. Wandering the extensive grounds is like being being transported back in time. It also has great views of the surrounding mountains. Within an easy drive of Petra in Wadi Musa. Nice, although not truly luxurious hotel. I have been to Amman on Business several times and have stayed at the Grand Hyatt, Marriot, and Holiday Inn. Since I wasn't paying, I preferred the Hyatt, although it is over-priced. The Marriot is probably the best value of the three hotels. Recommendation: If it was my money, this is where I would stay. If someone else is paying, stay at the Hyatt, which is a bit more polished and luxurious.
Sports bar ("Champions"), cigar bar/steak house, good complimentary breakfast buffet. Great night life scene at the sports bar that always draws a big crowd.

You cant miss this hotel!!! It is located in the heart of Amman, like a huge tower over the city... It is a luxurious hotel with excellent restaurants offering a wide variety of cuisine. Even if you are not staying there, you have to go for dinner or for a drink at the open bar. The view is spectacular!! Leave a Comment

OK - so for one night only, total indulgence. Designed along the lines of a traditional local village, two rooms to a building, 4-6 buildings sharing a common courtyard. Restaurants galore (Italian, Mongolian, Middle Eastern with belly-dancing, as well as snacks and European room service. Two swimming pools, private beach, extortionately expensive 'Dead Sea Products' spa, fantastically comfy rooms etc.. Indulgence? Abso-bloody-lutely. Cocktail in hand, watch the sunset over the Dead Sea and see the twinkling lights in the distance of the Palestinian Authority and Israel - Jericho, Jerusalem, Bethlehem. Leave a Comment

We stayed there for one night only as my friend was only in Aqaba for work. But it was definatly a hotel I would return to anytime I come to Aqaba! The hotel got 3 pools, which one of them is on the bridge! It got its own private beach, which seem really clean, and not disturbed by people from the outside. The rooms are ok, nothing special IMO, but got what you need. I didnt get the greatest view, as I had the parking space just outside my window, but I didnt use much time there anyway so it didnt matter to me. It has a nice location too, close to shops and resturants, so you got everything you need withing walking distance.

A month before this trip when i was about to travel independently with a few friends, i searched for hotel around Petra but never heard about this hotel, only about the bigger ones and better known ones (movenpick, Taybat Zaman, Golden Tulip etc'..). Only when i joined this trip a month later which was kind of organaized i asked where will we be staying and heard that name. Googled this name i couldn't find much info so thats actually why its the first tip im writing on this page (not sure when i'll write more) hopping it will help to others. The Amra hotel is a relatively Small hotel, Located in Wadi Musa, 5 minutes (Really) drive from Petra Site. Its not one of the posh hotels (like the Muvenpick or the Golden Tulip), Its basically very simple and very basic designed though pretty comfortable. The Single rooms are small, personally i didn't have any interesting view from my room... just a window watching the building near by. The Single room contained two single beds, Small bathroom, TV, hair driere, closet and i think thats about it, pretty basic room. Night time was very cold so i tried to switch on the heating but it didnt work, just cooled the room ! I didnt feel like calling the reception and start this whole tiring thing since i was way too tired, so i just grabed the blankets that were on the second bed and that definitely warmed me. However, if you come on winter time i might want to check this detail before and make sure it works cause trust me, IT IS COLD there, actually not only on winter time, after all i was there on Aprl 8th and it was still cold, we didnt even expect that weather so some of us including my smart self didnt even have jackets !.
** Continue ** However, From a spoilt girl point of view i can tell you that If you'll be visiting there for one night like i did, this hotel should be absolutely enough for you. We arrived back from our day at the desert at around 6 - 7pm (and left the morning after at 9am) and we were sooooo tired we didnt care much about anything.... just needed shower food and sleep. The only thing i decided to do was to spoile my self a bit by going to the Khamam and enjoy one good treat. But thats a story for another tip. If i would have come to enjoy there for a few days i'd definitely book a better hotel and enjoy a much more comfy rooms and other facilities that those hotels offer, but at this case i had no time anyway so as i mentioned before, it was quite good as is. Another thing, the hotel Stuff was really polite and kind and made us feel very welcome. Food at dinner and morning was okay, nothing spectacular though not bad. I know some of the people in my trip slept in another hotel (was fully booked when i booked my trip at the last moment) and enjoyed a great breakfast... but okay thats not such a big deal at this case so i think this hotel was really okay if you need a one night sLEEP than its absolutely okay. Have a great trip :-) Leave a Comment Theme: HotelPrice: US$40-80 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageAddress: P.O.Box 124, Wadi Mousa, 71810 Petra, JordanPhone: 00 962 3 2157070 / 2157215Website: www.amrapalace.com Other Contact: amrapalace@cyberia.jo

I stayed at the Kempinski Hotel Ishtar on the Dead Sea Coast in Jordan for four nights and I must say, this is perhaps the finest hotel I have set foot in. The brand new villas and rooms are with large, stylishly designed interiors, impressive bathrooms and comfortable balconies. The 10 pools, numerous restaurants and private beach ensure that you need not venture out of this gorgeous fort with strignant security at the gates. The architecture of the complex is impressive in its own right. The gardened pathways make for great walks, but the private beach is the place to be - floating on top of the Dead Sea - it is the closest experience to weightlessness here on Earth. Nothing is more relaxing than laying in the water and watching the sun set over Mt Hebron and the West Bank, as the lights of Jerusalem rise over the hill to the right... All that, naturally at a fat price tag - 200 euro per room if you are lucky.
10 pools, including the Infinity pool, which, when swimming in it, appears to merge with the sea. private beach with a sandy stretch on the Dead Sea coast great views over the Dead Sea towards the West Bank Leave a Comment Theme: HotelPrice: US$180 and up » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: 5 Km from Sûwaymah, Al Balqâʼ (Jordan) - 31°42'54.86"N; 35°35'7.24"EDirections: There is a cluster of hotels - Kempinski, Moevenpick, and Mariott and surrounding them is sand and rocks - the only way to get there is by car - it is about 45 minutes from Queen Aliah Airport for JOD30 (Sep 2007)Website: www.kempinski-deadsea.com
